We retired in 2015 and no longer had any excuses for not taking better care of ourselves! We started the year with a commitment to do just that, and began an exercise regimen. We saw results but soon realized we wanted some help, and started looking into training facilities. We wanted to find a place that made it easy for us to train together when we wanted to, or train separately to meet different needs at different times.
After meeting with Kelsey we had a feeling she was the right place one for us. Eight months later, we know working with her was one of the best things we’ve ever done for ourselves. We have regularly scheduled partner training sessions, we each take various classes based on our own goals and interests, or just go to Open Gym…either together or individually, there are always options for us!
So what do we really like about Kelsey? We like the focus on us…fitness plans that are based on our goals, goals that may have changed over the months. Nothing is ‘cast in concrete’, and plans can change. We primarily work out with Ken (who even got us into running again!), but enjoy the personalities/strengths/skills of all the trainers. That’s one of the really nice things …the individuality of the trainers! The results?
We enjoy coming to Kelsey and her team, and that means that we’ve made working out and exercising a part of our everyday routines. We’re much healthier these days, and we’ve met many of our goals…lost weight, gotten stronger, began running 5k races. And we’ve had fun doing it!
Hi I’m Kristy! I became a first time mom to a beautiful baby girl in August 2013. While pregnant I thought I could eat whatever I wanted and didn’t think of how my eating habits would affect me in the long run.
I tried to do the at home pregnancy workout dvd’s but quickly started making excuses to not put in the effort to continue to do them. While pregnant I ended up having a very complicated pregnancy and pre-eclampsia all of which resulted in me gaining 60lbs.After I had my daughter I just kept making excuses to myself which stopped me from being able to work out or get back on track with my fitness goals.
In January of this year a good friend of mine told me about an awesome spin class that she started to go to Kelsey's Studio. I had always been someone who wanted to try a spin class but was scared I wouldn’t be able to do it or fit in. She advised me that’s not the case at her studio so I decided to give it a try. Well, needless to say, I tried out my first 30min spin class with Erin in January 2016 and have been hooked ever since! Being a mom, I noticed that Kelsey was starting a stroller boot camp as well in May of this year so I decided to give that a try and absolutely loved it! Not only do I get to spend time with my munchkin while working on my fitness goals, but I also have been able to make a great friendship with Kelsey and a bunch of other mommy’s in the area. I want my daughter to be able to grow up seeing her mom keep fitness part of her daily routine.
As of today I’m happier, stronger and more fit then I’ve ever been with my body and I have the wonderful trainers at Kelsey's studio to thank for it!
PLF has been a very a very good experience for me. In the summer of 2014, I started looking for a facility to start working out again. It had been a while since I worked out regularly and I wanted to increase my energy level, drop some weight and feel better.
At previous gyms, I worked out with one trainer in a similar routine for all workouts with little focus on goals, change in workout routine or different trainers. When the trainer left, I had to start over. I met with Kelsey for the introduction, review of measurements and discussion of goals. She recommended different workout options, focus and trainers. Her message to me – goals are important and attainable and you can stop in a workout when you have reached YOUR point of exhaustion.
At my age I am only competing against myself. This made sense to me and I made workouts a focus in my life again. The staff and trainers are great! Ken has been a huge help to me in the weight lifting program he trains me in – I learned that you can add muscle and strength at any age. Matthew’s body shred and partner classes focus on quick interval training, circuit strength and agility. I am exhausted after Erin’s HIIT classes which are adaptable to any level of fitness by increasing reps, adding weights etc. I look forward to PiYo with Kristine and trying BOOM classes with Amanda. Each of the classes give different options and provide less reliance on any one trainer and provide the message of challenging yourself with different workouts.
The feelings from Kelsey's studio, for me, are positive and focus on self- improvement from the staff. I last ran a 5k in 1978 and with Ken’s guidance I trained and ran in the 5k of 2015 bridge run with my youngest daughter. This was a confidence builder for me, prior to joining Kelsey's studio I did not think I would ever run again, lift weights etc. For me, this has been a positive life style change.
As much as there are physical changes from the workouts, I realized that there were mental changes as well and that keeps me going on a daily basis.
